What are R5 Aminos?
This recovery formula and blend of amino acids, vitamins, minerals and herbs have been selected to support the following:
- Supporting and optimising growth hormone production.
- Assisting testosterone.
- Optimising sleep and mood by supporting the production of the brain chemical messenger serotonin.
- Supporting the production of glutathione, a vital antioxidant that helps neutralise free radicals produced from exercise.
Recovery is often an unappreciated aspect of health and performance, especially among those with very active fast paced lifestyles. Training and the results associated can only be as good as the recovery that comes between those training sessions. Without adequate recovery we can over burden the body and start to see reductions in performance, health and body composition. Supporting serotonin levels can assist not only with sleep and mood, but also help to reduce food cravings, which may be useful during a phase of dieting or making a transition from a less healthy diet.
L-Ornithine Alpha Ketoglutarate – This has been found to promote the secretion of growth hormone, which can have anti-catabolic effects on muscles.
L-Glutamine – An amino acid that can stimulate the release of growth hormone as well as provide one of the three amino acids that are involved in glutathione production.
L-Glycine – This is one of the other amino acids involved in glutathione synthesis and has also been shown to help modulate cortisol, improve sleep health and support the feel good neurotransmitter serotonin.
5-HTP – This is the direct precursor to serotonin and may also help stimulate additional growth hormone release.
Magnesium – This is such a crucial mineral for energy production, growth and repair of our DNA and also plays a role in the production of serotonin. Magnesium is a mineral well known for helping with sleep health and alleviating muscle tension and cramps.
Zinc – Also needed for the support of serotonin and the production of antioxidants in the body. Zinc is crucial for optimal testosterone production, supporting immunity, healing and repair.
Vitamin B6 and B9 – These have roles to play in the manufacture of serotonin as well as antioxidant activity.
Vitamin C – An important antioxidant that can spare and help regenerate glutathione. It is also crucial in the production of collagen to assist in connective tissue recovery as well as supporting energy metabolism and serotonin production.
