What is Omega 1250?
The Aminoman 1250 supplement is a high quality fish oil, backed by a 5-star rating from the IFOS, a third party certification program. The oil is taken from sustainable Pollock and Hake to help protect marine populations.
Fish oil is one of the most studied supplements available. It has strong evidence in its ability to help with the following:
- Improve cardiovascular health
- Reduce blood pressure
- Reduce triglycerides
- Improve cholesterol ratios
- Reduce liver fat
- Reduce homocysteine
- Reduce inflammation
- Modulate the immune system and specifically reduce the symptoms of lupus
- Improve cognitive function
- Improved memory
- Reduce depression
- Reduce cognitive decline
- Improve blood flow to the brain
One of the key benefits of Omega 1250 is the potency, with a high level of EPA and DHA per capsule. When assessing fish oils it is crucial that attention is paid to the EPA and DHA content not the total omega 3 fatty acid level. As many fish oils on the market have very little EPA and DHA yet still contain high levels of other omega 3’s.
Fish oil ultimately is made up of two particular types of fatty acids, commonly known as EPA and DHA, both of which are specific omega-3 fatty acids. Whilst you can get these oils in a vegan form from Algae based oils the content is much lower and to reach specific therapeutic levels would be very expensive.
EPA can also be made from non animal sources such as plant based foods rich in another fat known as ALA, such as flax, hemp, spirulina & chlorella. However the conversion process is very poor and in some people genetically improbable because of less enzymes to assist in that conversion process. This is a common reason for imbalanced fatty acids in those who eat little or no fish, as well as the over consumption of omega 6 rich foods.
Unlike many fish oil supplements on the market Omega 1250 uses a fish gelatin rather than a porcine-based gelatin.
This formulation also includes vitamin E, which as an antioxidant protects the oils from damage.
How to use Omega 1250?
For general health the American Heart Association recommends 1g daily of EPA and DHA combined. That is the equivalent of 1 capsule which means one bottle can last for 4months making it great value.
Dosages will vary depending on your goal, for acute inflammation and soreness a dose around 6g per day can be used short term. A good general dose for most people is around 1-3g per day. This dose appears to have the most beneficial effect.
Please be aware that fish oil and vitamin E are both natural anti-coagulants, thus if on blood thinning medication or if you have a blood thinning disorder you should not start fish oils without consulting a specialist first.
